Ebi Shibari – Shrimp Tie – 海老縛り

The word “Ebi”, translates to shrimp, prawn or lobster. Variations of this tie were used as a punishment ties during the Edo or Tokugwa period. This can be a very difficult tie especially over time. During the Edo period there were very specific rules about when the person should be removed from the tie. This can be a beautiful and enjoyable tie though care should be taken to monitor the model’s breathing, and models should never be left in this position for very long.
